January
20th 2006
it
looks like 2 years since the last update.
but its only 1 year..... no, honestly.
happy new years!
from all at alascom :)
update!!!
November
16th 2004
we have had a few problems this year trying to keep www.bio-d.net
online ( as usual! )
and in keeping with our tradition of chaos we have managed to lose
the domain name ( oops )
most of the site was situated on our www.alascom.co.uk domain ( this
address )
so everything else is going to move across here
all the same content as before will be available as well as new and
updated material in the near future
we are hoping you have arrived at this page having typed bio-d net
into a search engine as you wont
get here by typing our old domain name into a browser anymore
we hope all this makes sense
so the new address for all bio-d.net related material is http://www.alascom.co.uk
over
the next few weeks bio-d will re-appear at this address and eventually
be branded accordingly
so keep us bookmarked and well be back soon
update!!! November
1st 2003
yes,
that was a long gap in events, but as you might have noticed it's
all changed a bit.
hopefully it'll all make a bit more sense now, it'd b nice if something
did!
there's a new site design & mp3 downloads of a small number of
tracks with more to follow
have fun & PLEEAASSsse sign the guestbook... thanx
update!!!
November
1st 2002
there
are currently 122 audio files on this server & we have a new guestbook...
please sign it !!!
bio-d.net back online!!! October
2002
well,
we said we loved this music & so we must as it's all been
re-listened to, re-recorded, re-commpressed,
re-uploaded & hopefully re-played by yourselves at the moment.
the guestbook is gone for good so once again,
sorry to all of you who signed it
we've given the site a little overhaul as well so you may find
a few things missing, but they'll probably pop back
up somewhere else later.
well, less is more apparently. so we hope you enjoy the new
version of the site, thinner, fitter, faster, sleeker,
less... IS more!! oh alright, we'll just pay the bill on time
next year.
bio-d.net
vanishes!!! Augustl
2002
...
at least the most important part of it has. the audio files
we lovingly created & uploaded have all been completely
erased
due to a late payment for server space. only 7 of the 75
RealPlayer files on the site still exist. the guestbook
is gone & its log lost forever, sorry 2 all who signed
it :( AND, the new artist voting form is no more, thank
you all for not bothering to fill it out,
that'll save some time putting the site back together!
so... looks like we f***ed up.. but at least we're honest!
whatever happened to a months grace?

release 'mind
nebula medicine' double
CD April
2002
the
first eclectic batch of mixes from the bio-d playlist finally
arrive on the CD player as
'mind nebula medicine' 28 Tracks spread across 2 CDs featuring
the best & most striking
compositions from our online contributors
"it took a long time to put this together for us as
the wavs were never all physically in the same place,
but it was worth doing as there's no better way to hear
these artists diversity than backtoback on a
compilation like this, i've discovered a lot of my favorite
bands listening to label samplers, 20 bands for a fiver
or whatever and that's the spirit in which we would like
people to access bio-d.net"

artists commissioned for interactive
tv... Autumn
2001
Bio-d.net
oversaw MC Squared, Jovian, Kris Sharpe and bio-d's
own resident producers selected for the production
of their innovative soundfiles on HOMECHOICE interactive
TV. Five selected tracks used as the backing to
the various selection menus for Homechoices's 'Premiere
League' promotion.
Some of the tracks were used straight off, without
any extra work required, others had the vocal extracted
and were edited and looped.
"some of the material they wanted was
a couple of years old, and I have done a lot more
since then. So I was happy to sign the copyright over
to them so they could have unlimited use of the track
on the ITV service. Of course I still own the tracks
so I can still use them for other things." Says
Colin.

gigs Christmas
2001
Artists from the website
came together this Christmas to play a collaborative
gig at
the Cooperage - Plymouth. Jovian, McSquared, LV
Hyne, DJ Beanz and Ian Cooke (Bio-d) performined with
guest artists in a techno/dance extravaganza. "Last
year we had a great gig there, a full house"
says Ian "and we hope to do it again this year
to celebrate partially the success of it's members."
Although I live in London, Plymouth is my hometown
and I like to go back there every year to get together
with friends and family, a lot of the people I met
while gigging in Devon are now featured on the site.
I'm very selective about the stuff I upload, I try
to make sure that every track is a hook. That's why
I was so pleased that the tracks chosen by HomeChoice
were picked from the ones we had already chosen for
the website".

buys A.L.A.S.C.O.M (Audio
Library and Specially Commissioned Original Music)
Autumn
2001
An influx of new material
created the need to buy a larger space to store new material.
"without
the funds to support the site, at first we were using
bits of space all over the place. We were on borrowed
time, people would notice our sound files on their servers
and the next thing they were gone and links were broken,
it was doing my head in" says Ian Cooke. "I
had a chat room at one point and a Guest book which was
written off the face of the earth when my ex-employer
noticed it perched on his server
we had to do something
about it, so Lawrence Hyne from Carbon 14 & i footed
half the bill each and now we have all the streaming capability
we need"
